Ketika jalur pendakian kini mulai dibuka kembali, ternyata masih banyak oknum tidak bertanggungjawab yang melakukan kebiasaan buruk yakni membuang sampah sembarangan, salah satunya yakni di Gunung Merbabu.

Merespon hal tersebut, Mbah Bingah, seorang wanita lanjut usia yang tinggal di kaki Gunung Merbabu tak tinggal diam. Meski tulangnya sudah mulai renta, namun ia rela naik turun gunung untuk memunguti sampah-sampah yang di buang sembarangan oleh para oknum tak bertanggung jawab.

Tak tanggung-tanggung, Mbah Bingah bisa memikul puluhan kilo sampah plastik ke pengepul setiap harinya meski raganya sudah tak lagi muda. Tidak hanya untuk membersihkan lingkungan saja, namun hal tersebut juga ia lakukan untuk menghidupi sesama lansia disekitarnya.

Di usianya yang sudah lanjut, Mbah Bingah telah melakukan kegiatan yang sama setiap harinya selama 3 tahun. Tak tanggung-tanggung, ia bisa mengumpulkan 30-40 kilo sampah plastik yang di buang di kaki Gunung Merbabu setiap harinya.

Meski memikul beban berat setiap harinya, namun ia mengaku menikmati pekerjaan tersebut karena selain untuk menyambung hidup, ia juga bisa sekaligus berperan dalam membersihkan lingkungan.

Meski pendapatannya selama menjadi pemulung sampah di kaki Gunung Merbabu tidak menghasilkan banyak pundi-pundi uang. Namun disamping keterbatasannya tersebut, Mbah Bingah tak pernah luput untuk berbagi dengan sesamanya. Setiap uang yang ia kumpulkan akan ia tukarkan dengan sembako untuk sedekah kepada sesama lansia di sekitar rumahnya.

Merespon aksi yang dilakukan oleh Mbah Bingah, banyak warganet yang merasa tersentuh. Selain itu, banyak juga yang merasa prihatin dengan perilaku oknum pendaki gunung yang masih suka meninggalkan sampah di gunung.
